Physical Design Team Leader / Manager

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Physical Design team to ensure the delivery of high-quality semiconductor designs.

• Define and execute physical design strategies and methodologies to optimize performance, power consumption, and chip area.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architecture, RTL design, and verification, to guide projects from initial concept through tape-out.

• Develop and implement advanced physical layouts for integrated circuits using industry-standard EDA tools.

• Execute floorplanning, power planning, placement, routing, and physical verification to achieve performance, power, and area (PPA) objectives.

• Drive timing closure and signal integrity analysis to ensure design stability, reliability, and robustness.

• Partner with RTL designers, verification engineers, and technology teams to refine design methodologies and deliver project objectives.

• Create, maintain, and enhance design methodologies, scripts, and automated workflows to increase productivity and operational efficiency.

• Take part in design reviews, debugging, and technical problem-solving to resolve design challenges and ensure projects stay on schedule.

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 8–20 years of experience in Physical Design, with the opportunity to progress rapidly into a leadership role managing a team of 10–20 Physical Design Engineers.

• Strong knowledge of physical design methodologies and EDA tools, with the capability to handle top-level chip design.

• Proficiency in industry-standard physical design tools, including Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor Graphics.

• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Tcl, Python, or Perl for automation and design flow development.

• Comprehensive understanding of the ASIC design flow, semiconductor process technologies, and low-power design techniques.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
